- 6–8 tbsp ice-cold water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
- Gradually add ice-cold water until dough forms. Divide into two discs and chill for at least an hour.
- Toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Roll out one dough disc into a circle. Place in pie dish and fill with apple mixture.
- Roll out second dough disc and cover apples. Seal edges and cut steam vents.
- Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until crust is golden brown.
