Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp garlic and ginger paste
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato puree
  • 1 cup coconut milk or heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1. Marinate chicken: In a bowl, mix yogurt, garlic and ginger paste, salt, garam masala, cumin, and turmeric. Add chicken pieces and coat well. Let marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. 2. Sauté onions: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add finely chopped onions; sauté until golden brown (about 5 minutes).
  3. 3. Add tomatoes: Stir in tomato puree; let simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened.
  4. 4. Cook chicken: Add marinated chicken to the skillet with any remaining marinade. Cook until no longer pink (about 10 minutes), stirring occasionally.
  5. 5. Finish sauce: Reduce heat and stir in coconut milk or heavy cream; simmer for another 5 minutes.
  6. 6. Garnish: Sprinkle fresh cilantro on top before serving.
