Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 ripe avocado (about 150g)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (about 120g)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather ingredients and slice the avocado in half. Remove the pit and scoop out the flesh into a bowl. Mash gently with a fork until creamy but still chunky.
  2. Season mashed avocado with salt and pepper, adjusting to taste. Optional: add lime juice or garlic powder for extra flavor.
  3. Spread mashed avocado on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Layer shredded cheddar cheese over one slice and top with the other slice, avocado side down.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Once hot, place the sandwich in the skillet.
  5. Grill for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Carefully flip, add remaining butter, and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until crispy and cheese melts.
