  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups shelled pistachios, finely chopped
  • 1 cup honey (preferably raw or organic)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped pistachios with sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  3. Layer five sheets of phyllo dough in the baking dish, brushing each with melted butter.
  4. Sprinkle one-third of the pistachio mixture over the phyllo layers, followed by three more buttered sheets.
  5. Repeat layering until all pistachios are used; finish with five more buttered phyllo sheets on top.
  6. Cut diamond shapes into the top layer before baking for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While baking, prepare the syrup by boiling water and honey together; simmer until slightly thickened.
  8. Once baked, pour warm syrup over the baklava and let cool completely before serving.
