  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular)
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). If using regular noodles, cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until cooked through. Drain excess fat, then stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with half of the Parmesan, beaten egg, salt, pepper, and basil.
  4. Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat until ingredients are used up, finishing with meat sauce topped with mozzarella and remaining Parmesan.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
