Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil 4 cups of filtered water in a saucepan. Once boiling, add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers and steep for 15 minutes until the color deepens.
  2. Strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer to remove the hibiscus flowers.
  3. While still warm, stir in 1/4 cup of sweetener until dissolved, then add 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice.
  4. Transfer the tea to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until chilled.
  5. Serve over ice, garnished with fresh mint leaves or citrus slices if desired.
