Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 oz penne or rotini pasta
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 14 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes). Stir in minced garlic until fragrant.
  2. Push onions aside and add ground beef. Cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes), breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in canned tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente; drain.
  5. Combine drained pasta with the beef-tomato mixture in the skillet; toss to coat evenly.
  6. Serve topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
