Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil salted water and prepare noodles according to package instructions.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté garlic and onion in olive oil until translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Add ground beef, cooking until browned (5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with an egg, salt, pepper, and half of the basil until smooth.
  6. Begin layering: spread some meat sauce in a baking dish, place noodles on top, add ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese, repeat layers until ingredients are used up. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. Cover with foil (shiny side inside) and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
