- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (plus more for sautéing)
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried parsley
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the meatballs until golden brown on all sides (4-5 minutes per side). Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add more olive oil if needed and sauté chopped onions until they are translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add diced tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and parsley to the skillet. Stir well.
- Return meatballs to the skillet with sauce and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for 20-25 minutes.
