Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly coat a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. 2. Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat, stir in marinara sauce, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. 3. In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, salt, pepper, and half the basil until smooth.
  4. 4. Layer meat sauce at the bottom of the dish, followed by noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with marinara sauce topped with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. 5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown. Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing.

Keywords: For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with sautéed vegetables like zucchini or mushrooms. Homemade marinara can enhance flavor; use store-bought if short on time. Allow lasagna to rest after baking for cleaner slices.
