Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 4 medium russet potatoes washed and scrubbed
Toppings
  • 4 tablespoons butter optional
  • 1 cup sour cream optional
  • 1 cup shredded cheese optional
  • 1 cup chopped green onions optional
  • 1 teaspoon salt for seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper for seasoning

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Poke each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  3. Rub the potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Baking
  1. Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a fork easily pierces the flesh.
Serving
  1. Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  2. Cut a slit in the top of each potato and fluff the insides with a fork.
  3. Add butter, sour cream, cheese, and green onions as desired.

Notes

For extra crispy skin, you can bake the potatoes directly on the oven rack without a baking sheet.
