Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 1 package mini marshmallows 10 oz
  • 6 cups rice cereal such as Rice Krispies
Optional Add-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Method
 

Prepare the Baking Dish
  1. Grease a 9x9 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
Melt the Butter and Marshmallows
  1. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  3. If using, stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine with Rice Cereal
  1. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the rice cereal.
  2. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  3. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
Shape and Cool
  1. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  2. Press down firmly with a spatula to create an even layer.
  3. Allow to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in nuts or dried fruits.
